My Broadcast Journey
-
I always imagined I would be covering the Mets or Giants, or perhaps be the next Howard Stern or Mike and the Mad Dog.
-
My first experience of broadcasting publicly was anchoring news for my elementary school's monthly public access show, Live at the Hoop.
-
Years later, I made it to the largest radio station in New Jersey. It was at NJ 101.5 where I truly learned the first steps of what it takes to be a career broadcaster.
-
I began as the morning news producer, where I did every little job and kept taking on more and more to try and just get better.
-
My career and life-changing moment in this profession came as Superstorm Sandy barrelled into the area I grew up and lived in New Jersey.
-
Ironically, I was in the studios that night for the already-scheduled ATG show with Gov. Christie, and watched him on the air as the storm made landfall.
-
The experience of covering that story gave me a front-row education to how passing on vital information to listeners is paramount during emergencies.
-
My experiences have prepared me for this moment, where I believe I am uniquely qualified to cover news across every platform with confidence, poise, and the courage to always tell the truth.
"As a broadcaster, Matt is compelling, authoritative yet friendly, and unflappable when news breaks." - Patrick Lavery NJ 101.5 News/Former Colleague
